Three of the so-called "Four 'O' Regions", - Ohangwena, Omusati, and Oshana -, in Namibia's far northern centre, represent the core of the former Owamboland and are home to most of its inhabitants.

The fourth, least populated region, Oshikoto, comprises of the eastern remainder of Owamboland and one of Africa's largest and most game-rich wildlife sanctuaries, the famous Etosha National Park

Accommodation options to the north of the Etosha National Park that meet the requirements of foreign visitors are presently all located in the Oshana Region's two main town, Ondangwa and Oshakati. Most of the sightseeing options listed under our Namibia Country Info on these north-central regions can be reached during excursions from these centres.

Accommodation options in the Oshikoto Region are all of international standard. Most are situated in private nature and wildlife conservation areas and serve as basis for exploring the eastern Etosha National Park.
