Anib Kalahari Lodge
In the midst of the red dunes of the Kalahari in eastern Namibia the
lodge seems like a plush green oasis: the accommodation facilities,
built from Kalahari-red brick, are grouped around a spacious
courtyard with palm trees and acacias, a succulent garden and a
large swimming pool.
For tour groups there are 36 well-appointed rooms with a private
veranda opening onto the courtyard. For individual guests 19 rooms
are available in chalets, which are slightly set apart and afford
views of the savannah scenery – there is also a separate swimming
pool.
Nature lovers can choose between 3 exclusive camping sites
equipped with private showers and toilets.
Meals from the excellent
kitchen are served in the comfortable rooms of the restaurant or on
the huge terrace. Wrap up the day in style with a long drink at the
open fire. The friendliness of the lodge’s team has coined a new
expression: the Kalahari Smile.
For activities, join a drive through Gondwana Kalahari Park at sunrise or around
sunset, spend time watching vultures and marabou storks at the
feeding place for carrion birds, or explore the Kalahari on foot by
following one of our hiking trails.
Bagatelle Kalahari Game Lodge
The lodge lies on the edge of the Southern Kalahari in the mixed
tree and shrub Savannah. Its ‘Spirit of Africa’ atmosphere, coupled
with service, delivered with graciousness and charm, in an
unashamedly luxurious setting, are the hallmarks of this
establishment, providing excellent value and unforgettable memories
for the discerning traveller.
The design and décor, materials and furnishings, gardens and natural
settings, all combine to ensure guests live their dream of an
African Safari. A rambling old farmhouse was extensively altered and
upgraded to not only serve as a residence, but also as
the main nerve centre of the Lodge. An entrance hall leads to the
reception, lounge, dining room, bar & cellar, library and office.
There is a swimming pool and recreation area with a hammock. An open
air lapa for outdoor meals captures the atmosphere of an African
Safari.
Although three styles of chalets are provided, all have the same
standard of luxury and finished quality.
Dune Chalets, constructed of wood and on stilts are built on top of
a Kalahari sand dune, with unsurpassed views to the Southwest.
Strohbale Chalets are built in the valley between the
dunes. These chalets are built of ‘hay bales’ with walls 600mm
thick, the insulation and atmosphere are equally effective and
tranquil.
Garden Court Rooms, next to the lodge have a view onto their own
garden court.
The main difference between the styles of chalets besides the
construction method is the fact that the dune chalets have a bath
and shower, while the ‘hay bale’ chalets only have a shower. The
garden courts are adjoined. The standard and quality of finish is
the same for all chalets, with exquisite décor and equipped to
exceed your expectations.
Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch has opened individual campsites. Set
in a wide ‘street' between the red sand dunes, each campsite has its
own dedicated ablution block, toilet, shower, washbasin and mirror.
Optional activities include nature drives and sundowner drives.
Bitterwasser
Lodge
The Bitterwasser farm area consists of a total of 5´500 hectares of
land including a game park. Experience fascinating natural colour displays and a rich selection of Namibian animals and plants.

relax. For up to 80 guests, Bitterwasser Lodge
& Flying Centre offers comfortable, unique accommodation in 13 rondavels (African style huts),
22 air-conditioned bungalows, and a
country house located in Kalahari dunes.
´Non-pilots´ will enjoy the
atmosphere and the typical African ambience as well - an
unforgettable mix of freedom, luxury and comfort.
Optional activities offered: game drives, sundowner walks or drives,
flights with gliders or motorised gliders, ultra
light or motor planes and biking trails.
Intu Africa Lodge

wildlife sanctuary located in the south-western region of the
Kalahari, along the upper reaches of the Auob river system. The expanse of the reserve is characterized by lofty
ancient parallel red dunes sparsely covered by unique vegetation.
Grassy plains peppered with centuries old camel-thorn trees commonly
known as “dune streets” or valleys separate the dunes providing
refuge for diverse animal and bird life indigenous to the Kalahari.
Camelthorn Kalahari Lodge is set in a secluded valley between two
red sand dunes and hidden amongst ancient camel-thorn trees. It consists of a thatched main building, dining area and a boma
overlooking a natural stone pool, with each of the 11 double chalets
offering air conditioning and en-suite facilities.
Suricate Tented Kalahari Lodge is situated on a dune
overlooking a pan system that forms part of the upper Auob wetlands.
It comprises of 12 luxurious walk-in-style tents. Each tent offers a private deck
and an intimate open air bathroom with hot and cold running water,
flush toilet and shower. A cosy African-style lounge overlooking the
pans of the Auob River and the pool deck is the perfect
setting for drinks and meals.
It is here that one can experience all the romance, all the
adventure of the early safari expeditions but with style.
Zebra Lodge is set in a panorama of open grassy plain, acacia
woodlands and red sand dunes. A luxurious establishment, the cool
interior reflects casual comfort. This unique lodge can accommodate
26 guests in twin bedded rooms connected to the main lodge building.

Kulala
Collection
Little Kulala, a luxurious desert retreat, is situated in the
private 21 000-hectare Kulala Wilderness Reserve - the gateway to
Namibia's Sand Sea with its towering red dunes and clear starry
skies.
The 11 climate-controlled, thatched villas merge impeccably

fixtures, innovative bleached decks each with a private plunge pool.
Each villa has a rooftop 'skybed' for romantic stargazing, with both
indoor and outdoor showers.
An elegant entertainment area includes a library, wine cellar, craft
boutique, lounge and dining areas. The interiors were designed to
ensure guests an all-natural and unique experience in this most
beautiful environment. The extensive use of neutral colours,
gorgeous textures and natural light reproduce the soothing pastel
tones of the desert. Pure linens, cottons and mohair dyed with
natural vegetable dyes all make for a very organic camp which takes
its inspiration from its surroundings, notably from the magnificent
Dead Vlei in the middle of Sossusvlei. The overall mood and feel is
cool, serene, organic and sheltering.
Activities: Early morning guided game drives to the spectacular
towering dunes of Sossusvlei are through a private gate into the
reserve. Guided drives and walks are also offered on the private
Kulala Wilderness Reserve with incredible views, desert-adapted
wildlife and plants.
Kulala Desert Lodge is hidden at the foot of the majestic
Sossusvlei dunes, with a private entrance to Namib Naukluft Park,
which makes it the closest and most spectacular location to
Sossusvlei, providing magnificent views of its famous red dunes,
mountainous scenery and vast open plains.
The camp comprises of 15 stylish, thatch & canvas “kulalas”

room is built on a wooden platform to catch the cooling breezes and
has a deck on the flat rooftop where bedrolls can be placed for
guests to sleep under the stars.

with décor inspired by northern Africa, has a lounge, pub, dining
area, plunge pool, and a wrap-around veranda overlooking the
waterhole – a perfect location to view and photograph the desert
vista. The overall setting is a true delight to the senses, bringing
together the rhythm of Namibia, French cuisine and intimacy.
The activities available include private tours to Sossusvlei, horse
riding, hot air ballooning (at extra cost), scenic nature drives and
game drives to view the desert’s fascinating flora and fauna.
Kulala Wilderness Camp commands a panoramic view of the
valley and mountains beyond. It consists of 10 simple yet stylish
chalets ("kulalas") complete with private verandas, en-suite
solar-heated bathrooms and sundecks, all on elevated platforms for
that spectacular view. The main area is raised too, built of canvas
with thatched roofing and offers a cosy and intimate atmosphere,
complete with a bar and traditional three-course dinners. Guests can
enjoy drinks, a sparkling pool and a breathtaking view of this area.
Sesriem
Campsite
At the entry to Sossusvlei is Sesriem Canyon, where centuries of
erosion have incised a narrow gorge about 1 km in length. Close to
this setting there is a campsite situated under huge camel-thorn
trees for those that want to spend their night in nature.
Sossusvlei Lodge
If “awesome” had a physical address, it would be here… This is
exactly what you experience when arriving at Sossusvlei Lodge. You
can simply not get any closer to the entrance gate to Sesriem Canyon
and the renowned Sossusvlei with its towering red sand dunes. The
lodge uniquely crouches, almost unnoticed, in a vast ocean of
unparalleled desert beauty. Entering the lodge you immediately get
the feel of holiday and relaxation. This is not only the unique
Berber-like style that blends in so perfectly with the desert, but
also the friendly and attentive staff. The sparkling pool is the
ideal relaxation after an eventful day. The exceptional dinner
buffet offers an extraordinary variety for all tastes and likes.
Each of Sossusvlei Lodge’s 45 en-suite rooms have the same
standard layout. Adobe walls are shaded by canvas roofs, almost
Berber-tent-like in their covering of the slate floors beneath.
The lodge boasts a bar, curio Shop, courtesy beverage bar, guest
phone facilities, laundry facilities, safe as well as a close-by
shop and petrol station.
Optional activities are offered by the lodges own on-site Adventure
Centre: Sossusvlei Excursions, Sundowner Drives, Nature drives,
guided sunset walks, hot air ballooning, eco-quad biking, scenic
flights, bush dinners and conferencing.
Tsauchab
River Lodge
Situated on the banks of the magnificent Tsauchab River, surrounded
by the majestic Naukluft- and Tsaris mountains, there is a unique
camping site with a difference. The beautiful sunsets, combined
with the indigenous fauna and flora will leave an unforgettable
impression on you.
Wolwedans Collection
Wolwedans nestles into the dunes and is set against a backdrop of
extraordinary natural beauty. Located in the heart of the NamibRand
Nature Reserve, the portfolio of camps provides the perfect base
from which to explore vast stretches of awe-inspiring and
undisturbed nature. Each camp is designed with guest’s individual
needs at heart. For your home at Wolwedans you have a choice of the
rustic, but unique comfort of the Dune Camp, the more
elaborate Dunes Lodge and Mountain View Suite, the
quietly secluded Private Camp or the latest gem, Boulders
Camp, tucked away amidst the grandeur of large granite rocks.
No matter where you opt to stay, warmth and personalized service -
embraced by a commitment to care for guest and nature alike - are
their hallmarks.
Wolwedans is not a dune hotel or a one night stop-over destination,
which can be ticked off en-route to the next tourist hot-spot. It is
a place to arrive, to be, to learn and unwind, whilst being looked
after by a friendly and involved local team. Wolwedans provides an
honest, relaxed and down-to-earth atmosphere, free of ‘wannabe’
fanciness and pretence.
You will marvel at your exclusive chance to get up close and
personal with nature ... in the absence of five-star city luxury,
marble bathrooms and air-conditioned rooms. A liberating thought.
Wolwedans provides an intriguing window for you to experience the
desert’s elusive grandeur and breathtaking beauty. You have to bear
in mind, however, that there are moments when the elements remind us
of our human insignificance - for as much as the desert kindles your
spirits, it can also be harsh and unforgiving. If you are an
open-minded and nature-loving individual in search of a distinctive
desert experience off the beaten track, Wolwedans is for you.
The Dunes Lodge is perched on top of a dune plateau,
overlooking panoramic vistas in all directions and capturing the
beauty of the desert in a most memorable way. Building style is a
combination of wooden structures and canvas blinds, opening up to
the desert beyond. The lodge reflects the ambience of a tented camp,
but provides the comfort and protection of a permanent building.
Each of the 9 spacious chalets with en-suite bathrooms sports
a private veranda, which connects you to vast stretches of untouched
sand. Sleeping with your canvas blinds open is just like sleeping
under the stars. The main complex - which has completely been
rebuilt during 2003 - consists of two lounges, a number of sundowner
decks, a fireplace, a tea deck, a library, the wine cellar and two
dining rooms. The lodge also has a swimming pool, which is suspended
above the sand. All communal areas of the lodge open out onto decks
with superb views. The variety of recreational space makes a visit
both exciting and relaxing.
The Mountain View Suite with its 200 square meters of deck
rising above the dunes, provides ample living space and adds a
touch of luxury to the Wolwedans Collection. The Suite is located
within walking distance from the Dunes Lodge, yet it is
secluded, allowing guests to spend time in a homely and stylish
atmosphere. Consisting of a spacious en-suite bedroom with a
king-size bed, the Suite enables guests to enjoy the view of their
private dune valley to the fullest. A shaded patio provides an ideal
venue for meals and relaxed hours lazing in a hammock. Add to this a
spacious lounge, bar cabinet and dining area and you have a
wonderful home away from home. In the event that guests wish to
enjoy their meals ‘entre-nous’, an open-plan kitchenette supports
the preparation of meals at the Suite. An east-facing veranda and
sundeck lead from the platform into the surrounding dunes. The main
veranda has a ‘star-gazing’ bed, which provides a wonderful
sleep-out venue during summer. Keeping in line with the traditional
Wolwedans style, the ambience is that of plain elegance embraced by
a natural, comfortable charm.
Dune Camp, positioned on the edge of a 250-metre high dune,
sleeps a maximum of 12 guests in a totally unspoilt setting. Guests
stay in 6 comfortable tents, which are pitched on wooden
platforms. A spacious deck, allowing for safe sleep-outs under the
stars and a private bathroom make for a rather civilized camping
experience. The lapa is comprised of a lounge, dining area and
an open-plan kitchen, which allows guests to chat to the chef while
he prepares a sumptuous dinner. The sundowner deck with its
fireplace is the central meeting point of the camp, making for a
cosy and relaxed ambience. Whilst the camp aims at accommodating
those guests in need of relaxed comfort and space, it provides a
more down-to-earth experience. Its rustic but unique atmosphere
courts the younger and more adventurous traveller. The charm of the
camp lies in its tranquil, intimate atmosphere, capturing the
romance of a bygone era. Dune Camp requires a minimum stay of two
nights and a day-safari with picnic lunch en-route is part of the
package.
Situated 45 kilometres south of Wolwedans and hugged by massive
granite rocks, Boulders Camp is the latest addition to the
Wolwedans Collection. Sleeping a maximum of eight guests in 4
spacious tents, Boulders is undoubtedly the most exclusive camp
at Wolwedans. The main area sports a dining and lounge tent, a
breakfast deck and open fire place. Close by is an awesome sundowner
spot overlooking the vast beauty of the reserve.
From Boulders Camp you will explore the deep south of NamibRand
Nature Reserve. Guided scenic drives, or two to three hour walking
safaris treading along the ancient hunting grounds of the bushmen,
will happily fill your days. Boulders requires a two night stay
and is ideally booked in combination with one or two nights at any
of the other camps in the dunes, which makes for the ultimate desert
experience.
The Private Camp is situated in a quiet and idyllic valley,
and its splendid suite caters for four guests exclusively. It
is the perfect getaway for honeymooners or individuals seeking
uncompromising privacy and solitude. Private Camp offers 2
spacious en-suite bedrooms, a ‘Sala’ where one can laze away
siestas, various decks and the central lounge, combining a study,
living room, a dining area and a fully equipped kitchen. Its
open-plan design allows uninterrupted views of the surrounding
nature. The Private Camp is designed for those who enjoy the peace
that utter silence can afford. Get away for a day or two and revel
in the luxury of reading, reflecting or taking walks in one of the
most enchanting landscapes in Africa. Guided activities such as
scenic drives, scenic flights, hot-air ballooning and nature walks
can be arranged either privately for you (at an extra charge) or to
be shared with other lodge or camp guests.
Private Camp is your special home at Wolwedans. It demands nothing
much of you, but to relax and gaze at the ever changing colours of
the desert.
Activities: Accompanied by experienced guides, visitors are
introduced to the many facets of NamibRand Nature Reserve's desert
habitat with its diverse fauna and flora - on foot, by car, or from
the air. The classic programme - that is if you stay for two nights
- would entail an afternoon drive on the day of arrival, followed by
a full day-safari with picnic lunch en-route. Alternatively you can
join one or two half-day excursions, perfect if you feel like lazing
around for an afternoon, simply admiring the views and colours which
change by the hour. The choice is entirely yours. |
