Measured against this Standard, the alternative lodging options in our suggested itineraries were categorised as:

Budget = Low-cost accommodation options providing basic amenities and services, and clean en-suite rooms; our selection includes only those mainly geared at foreign tourists and worthwhile a visit for their originality.

Tourist Class = Slightly less sophisticated and lower priced options than in our Standard category; still of good quality, these places mainly cater for travellers who enjoy simplicity without having to sacrifice on basic creature comforts and a homely, uncomplicated atmosphere.

Upmarket = This category includes our selection from the best in game lodges and safari camps available around Southern Africa - nothing left to chance and to be desired here!

Camping = The "wild" version is forbidden in Namibia and in neighbouring countries too. As tempting as countless spots may be - don't ... designated camp sites in the wilderness are wild enough! In fact, we would like you to be as comfortable camping as possible and therefore mostly recommend camp sites with at least some basic amenities in place, if not within walking distance of a lodge and its conveniences.
